Alcohol and drug abuse problems occur in all ethnic groups. However, when they occur in the African American community, there are unique and culturally specific consequences. The evidence is undeniable. Providing services and activities that reflect the values, beliefs and problem-solving styles of Ohio's largest African American population has been the driving force behind UMADAOP of Cleveland since 1980. Among the original eight, and one of the largest programs in the statewide network, this Cleveland agency has established a tract record for developing and implementing innovative, timely and culturally sensitive programming for African Americans residing on Ohio's North Coast.
